Albert 'Dutch' Roth
Albert Gordon "Dutch" Roth, born September 20, 1890 in Knoxville, Tennessee, is recognized as one of the most prolific early photographers of the Greenbrier and Mount Le Conte sections of the Great Smoky Mountains.

From Pi Beta Phi to Arrowmont
From Pi Beta Phi to Arrowmont is a fully-searchable digital collection of letters, diaries, photographs, and short printed items that document the history of the Pi Beta Phi Settlement School and Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts.

William Cochran
This collection showcases the images of East Tennessee that William Cochran captured in August of 1886. Cochran photographed many of these images in what is now the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

Flora of Tennessee
Part of the University of Tennessee Herbarium, and co-authored by Austin Peay State University's Center for Excellence in Field Biology, this collection contains images of native and introduced flora in Tennessee. Types of plants found in this collection are fungi, bryophytes and vascular plants.

Search the collection by plant name, county and status (state and federal), or browse the collection by family, genus and common name. Locate plants by county or category on the checklist, and discover the native vascular plants of TN on the plant diversity map.

Documenting the American South
Electronic collection providing access to primary materials offering the Southern perspective on American history and culture. Search the collection by specific location, such as "swain county," or "great smoky mountains," or browse the collections.

Cherokee Phoenix Project
The Cherokee Phoenix Project at Western Carolina University, is an English language collection of articles found in the Cherokee Phoenix newspaper, published by the Cherokee Nation from 1828-1834. The Cherokee Phoenix and Indian Advocate began republication in 2000.

Western North Carolina Heritage
A joint effort by the Asheville Art Museum, Asheville-Buncombe Library System, The University of North Carolina at Asheville Special Collections, Young Men's Institute Cultural Center (YMICC), Appalachian State University, Appalachian Cultural Museum, and Southern Highlands Craft Guild. "The primary focus of the first phase of the collaborative project is to address the information needs of ethnic minorities in the mountains of Western North Carolina, beginning with the African American community. Following the digitization of key collections at the four partnering institutions, the project will be expanded to include other underserved minorities with a site rich in general history and culture of the region."
