Request Library Instruction

Interested in customized instruction for your classes?

We can work with you to build classes on topics that you think will be most helpful for your students. Request library instruction by filling out our online form. Download the Pendergrass Library Instruction Menu for a description of course offerings.

Library instruction works best when it is connected to the learning outcomes of the course.  We can help you build meaningful library assignments that teach students to locate, evaluate, and cite research sources.

Help Reach 3.14 Million ORCID Registrants by PI Day!

This month, ORCID will be celebrating their 3,141,593rd registrant just in time for Pi Day (March 14th)!

Every week until Pi Day, ORCID will be announcing a competition for the person with the most Pi-related works and other outputs in their ORCID record, the best pie recipes, and the best ORCID Pi Day tweet. Winners will receive a special ORCID Pi Day package – apron, spatula, and whisk – so that you can create your own pies in style!

Follow ORCID on Twitter @ORCID_Org where they will be counting down the number of registrations until it reaches 3,141,593! Join in on the celebrations of ORCID’s one and only Pi Day and if you haven’t done so already, register for your own unique ORCID!

Why ORCID? ORCID is an open source, community driven solution to reliably connect researchers with their work. ORCID stands for Open Researcher and Contributor ID. The ORCID initiative focuses on solving the name ambiguity problem by creating persistent unique identifiers and linking mechanisms between different ID schemes and research objects.

See these guides for more information on ORCID and ORCID research support at UT.

Science Magazines Go Open Access

The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation have formed a partnership to advance scientific communication and open access publishing. The partnership will also ensure open access to research funded by the Gates Foundation and published in the Science family of journals.

As a result of this partnership, AAAS will allow authors funded by the Gates Foundation to publish their research under a Creative Commons Attribution license (CC BY) in Science, Science Translational Medicine, Science Signaling, Science Advances, Science Immunology or Science Robotics. This means that the final published version of any article from a Foundation-funded author submitted to one of the AAAS journals after January 1, 2017, will be immediately available to read, download, and reuse.

For more information about the partnership, see their Frequently Asked Questions page.
