Altmetric: 10 Tips for Promoting your Research Online

As researchers, promoting your work online is essential to your digital reputation. These tips can help  bring more attention to your work and establish your online presence:

  1. Get Social!

Take advantage of your social media accounts and post links to your research or upcoming conferences and other related events straight to your profile. This can help keep your social circle aware of your most recent interests and may also spark discussion around your work.

  1. Link out from your email signature and profiles.

Simple enough. Linking to your work with your email signature is a sure way to keep your contacts updated with your latest research.  Don’t forget to include your ORCID iD, too.

  1. Write a summary.

Summarizing your work in plain English can help you reach a wider audience. You could benefit from a summary by posting it to online discussion groups and forums that might be interested in your work.
