The A to X of Alternative Music.
Taylor, Steve. The A to X of Alternative Music. New York: Continuum, 2004. Dedicated solely to Alternative Music, this book has short biographical entries on bands somewhat idiosyncratically selected by the author. A definition of Alternative music by Michael Stipe of REM opens the book and is followed by an essay explaining how the author decided which performers to include. Each artist entry offers a short biography of the performer or music group, where and when the group first started, and recommendations for which album(s) to buy first. Some pictures are scattered throughout the book and an index is included at the back. |
