The Information Is Our Game campaign ended in 2016.

Since that date, some assignments have changed, some departments have been reorganized, and some faculty and staff members featured here are no longer with the University of Tennessee Libraries. For a current list of library faculty and staff, check the Libraries’ Staff Directory. To identify the librarian who specializes in your discipline, see this list of Subject Librarians.

Collection Logistics

BIG IDEAS demand reliable information. The University Libraries supports scholarship, research, and learning at UT by acquiring, organizing, preserving, and facilitating access to the world’s knowledge. The wide-ranging expertise of our librarians might surprise you.

Collection Logistics is the team that makes our physical holdings readily available to library users. They shelve and re-shelve books, and operate our popular Library Express delivery service. [continued below]

With a few clicks in the library catalog, students and faculty can ask Library Express to deliver books, bound periodicals, maps, CDs, and other “loanable” materials to the nearest library branch for convenient pick-up. If you’re a graduate student, faculty or staff member, Library Express will even deliver library materials to your campus office.

It also takes only a few clicks in the library catalog to initiate our Scan-on-Demand service. Library Express will scan pages from print and microform materials and deliver copies as PDFs to the email accounts of UT faculty, students, and staff, at no charge.

Collection Logistics maintains the stacks in Hodges Library — and it involves far more than merely re-shelving returns. Some areas of our collections grow; others contract. New titles are added, and lesser-used titles are moved to storage. The Collection Logistics crew do the planning and the heavy lifting. They also staff the service desk at the Hoskins Library Storage & Reading Room, which offers walk-in access to our microforms, sheet maps, and other storage materials. They even run the library’s Shipping & Receiving area.
