Oxford University Press to demo databases, Nov. 16 & 17

Oxford University Press (OUP) will will be at Hodges Library November 16 and 17 to demonstrate some of their unique databases.

Oxford Music Online – The home of Grove Music Online and the access point for new and forthcoming Oxford music reference subscriptions and products. The University of Tennessee Library subscribes to: Encyclopedia of Popular Music; The Oxford Dictionary of Music; Grove Music Online; and The Oxford Companion to Music.

Oxford Art Online – The access point for Grove Art Online, Benezit Dictionary of Artists, The Oxford Companion to Western Art, Encyclopedia of Aesthetics, and The Concise Oxford Dictionary of Art Terms. Grove Art Online offers over 6,000 images. Browse or search biographies, different types of art and art forms, geographical areas, categories of people (e.g., artists, collectors, patrons), styles and cultures (e.g., Cubism, Jewish, Buddhist), time periods, and themes and subjects (e.g., landscape, still life, portrait).

Benezit Dictionary of Artists – Since its first publication in 1911, the Benezit Dictionary of Artists has become one of the most comprehensive and definitive resources of artists’ biographies available. Dictionary of National Biography – 50,000 biographies of people who shaped the history of the British Isles, from the earliest times to the year 2000. Please Logout when finished.

Social Explorer – Provides quick and easy access to current and historical census data and demographic information. Users can create maps and reports to better illustrate, analyze and understand demography and social change.

AMA Manual of Style – Everything you need to produce well-organized and clear manuscripts. The AMA Manual of Style is a must-have guide for anyone involved in medical and scientific publishing.

Oxford Law Products – Oxford Law Explore is a tool designed to introduce users to the vast range of Oxford’s online legal publishing and to help viewers better understand the relationships between individual resources. Each section provides an overview of the platform and details the cross-searchable products within it.

African American Studies Center – Combines the authority of carefully edited reference works with sophisticated technology to create the most comprehensive collection of scholarship available online to focus on the lives and events which have shaped African American and African history and culture.

Electronic Enlightenment – The online gateway to the eighteenth century. With 69,415 letters and documents and 8,438 correspondents as of Winter 2015–2016, EE is the most wide-ranging online collection of edited correspondence of the early modern period, linking people across Europe, the Americas and Asia from the early 17th to the mid-19th century.
American National Biography – Features nearly 18,000 biographies, thousands of illustrations, more than 80,000 hyperlinked cross-references, links to select web sites, and powerful search capabilities.

Oxford Biblical Studies – Provides a comprehensive resource for the study of the Bible and biblical history. University Press Scholarship Online/Oxford Scholarship Online – contains thousands of the best scholarly publishing in almost every area of academia, from Oxford University Press and 21 other leading scholarly presses.
Oxford Scholarly Editions—now available for the first time online, Oxford’s scholarly editions provide trustworthy, annotated primary texts for scholars and students. OSEO currently includes writers active between 1485 and 1901, plus Classical Latin authors — from Jane Austen, Jeremy Bentham, Catullus, Dickens, Donne, and Dryden through to Virgil and Wordsworth.
New Oxford Shakespeare – presents an entirely new consideration of all of Shakespeare’s works, edited from first principles from the base-texts themselves, and drawing on the latest textual and theatrical scholarship.

Oxford Classical Dictionary – For nearly 70 years, scholars and students of the ancient world have relied on the Oxford Classical Dictionary as an invaluable reference work. As the OCD has grown in scope and length over successive editions, its comprehensive and virtually unparalleled coverage has begun to push the limits of print. In its digital form, the new OCD is a continuously updated and ever-expanding resource that will ensure scholarship remains current and reflective of emerging subfields and perspectives. New and revised articles written by leading international authors will appear on a rolling basis.

Very Short Introductions Online – Offer concise introductions to a diverse range of subject areas from Climate to Consciousness, Game Theory to Ancient Warfare, Privacy to Islamic History, Economics to Literary Theory. Since the series was launched it has continued to offer new books each year for students and scholars, and the avidly curious, offering a bridge between reference content and higher academic work. All titles provide intelligent and serious introductions to a huge range of subjects, written by experts in the field who combine facts, analysis, new ideas, and enthusiasm to make challenging topics highly readable.

SIPRI – The Stockholm International Peace and Research Institute was established in 1966, and is dedicated to research into conflict, armaments, arms control and disarmament. It provides data, analysis and recommendations, based on open sources, to policymakers, researchers, media and the interested public.

Oxford Clinical Psychology – provides full-text access to over 300 titles in Oxford’s global clinical psychology publishing program in an integrated online service. Covering a broad range of specialty areas, disorders, and treatment modalities, Oxford Clinical Psychology enables users to search and browse high-quality research and practice information.

Oxford Medicine Online – a collection of online medical resources which cover every stage in a medical career, from resources for medical students and junior doctors, to those for senior doctors and consultants.
