The meeting began with announcements which included:
Welcome to Marielle and introductions of old and new committee members. A flyer was circulated on Rita Sanders Geier a new Campus Diversity administrator discussion was forthcoming on Ms. Geier the committee agreed to consider inviting her to the Libraries to discuss her role in the legendary suing of the state of Tennessee. Allison is working on the diversity web pages she in having problems with the password working. She is working with Maribeth to resolve this problem. Thura announced that two Residents have accepted the offer of Diversity residents. The start date for the residents is October 15th 2007.
Meeting dates were distributed and our next meeting is September 13th in 605. The Diversity committee has been asked by the administration to host a reception for the new residents this discussion will continue as we get more information from the Library Deans. Trunk or Treat was discussed as an activity that we could participate in and the committee agreed to wait for more information before making a decision…Jeff French did offer to allow the committee to use his truck for the project!
Creation of sub-committees—we begin assignments with members present volunteering for one
or both subcommittees, we did recognize the ones who emailed in their choice.

The committee is considering implementing an online culture calendar; we will decide if we would like to have lunch with the new residents at the next meeting, Sara and Thura will meet with Barbara for clarity on the student recognition and a budget for the committee
