The committee made tremendous progress at the June 28 meeting. The
discussion began with planning for our August Diversity Luncheon. The
results were:
1. Theme
* Lazy River
* Taste of Diversity
* Food for Thought
* Delicious Diverse Dishes & Desserts
We agreed to combine Food for Thought with Delicious Diverse Dishes &
Desserts as a working theme. We, also, agreed to provide flowers and
music for the luncheon.
2. Promotion Activities
* Tamara commented that we may be able to get Barbara to provide
funding for beverages, plates, napkins, plastic ware and other
related items. Tamara is looking into this cost
* The committee consulted Barbara's calendar and scheduled her to
attend our luncheon
* The committee decided to send out a RSVP to get a head count of
staff that will be attending
* Dave and Thura are working on the invitations
* The committee will be introduced to the staff and we will unveil
our mission statement
3. Menu
* There was lots of discussion on possible menu items, but the
committee agreed to develop the menu items at the next meeting
* The committee members will provide most of the menu items...
4. Diversity Inventory
* Tamara, Tiffani and Molly are working on this task
* We agreed to have at least two welcoming activities before we
send out our diversity survey
5. Film Series
* Anthony, Tiffani and Maribeth are working on getting a list of
cultural and diversity films held by our library
* The film series will be apart of future upcoming programs
* The committee would like to co-sponsor film series with other
related culture events, such as poetry reading, etc.
6. Other
* We will invite Barbara to our July 26 meeting ( I have emailed
her)
* At our next meeting, we will discuss our web page, banners and
menu items for the luncheon
