Patricia Foxen

photograph of Patricia Foxen Patricia Foxen (Ph.D. 2002, McGill; M.P.H. 1990, Columbia) is a Research Assistant Professor at Vanderbilt University in the Anthropology Department whose recent work has focused on migration, ethnicity, violence, and cross-cultural health issues. Dr. Foxen's doctoral research focused on the transnational movement of an indigenous (K'iche' Mayan) community balanced between rural highland Guatemala and the inner city of Providence, Rhode Island. Her post-doctoral research involves analysis of the impact of immigration policies on the well-being of Guatemalan immigrants in Canada and the US. She has worked with immigrant and refugee families in the Transcultural Psychiatry Division of the Montreal Childrens' Hospital, and is currently co-researcher on an interdisciplinary project evaluating the decision-making process of the Canadian Immigration and Refugee Board.
