General Purpose
To support instruction, study, and research at B.S. and M.S. levels in
Statistics and M.B.A. and Ph.D. levels in Business Administration.
Subject Description
The program emphasizes the following subject areas: applied reliability
studies, Bayesian analysis, biostatistics, design of experiments, generalized
linear models, multivariate analysis, nonparametrics, sampling, statistical
computing, statistical process control, stochastic processes, and time series
analysis. Related courses taught in other departments include measurement
theory, probability, and survey research.
Overlap with Other Subjects
Statistics overlaps with mathematics, computer science, psychology,
biological sciences, and engineering. Additionally, statistics provides a
research interface with other departments in the College of Business
Administration.
Languages Collected and Excluded
Primarily English language materials are collected.
Geographic Parameters
Publications from the United States, Great Britain, and Western Europe are
primarily collected. Other areas are considered selectively.
Chronological Scope
Emphasis is on current research. Classic texts are collected selectively.

Current publications are primarily collected.
Retrospective Acquisitions
Retrospective collecting is very limited and performed only under special
circumstances.
Types of Materials Collected and Excluded
All types of materials are collected, but the emphasis is on advanced
texts, scholarly monographs, and research publications and journals.
Formats of Materials Collected and Excluded
In addition to print formats, all other formats are collected.
Cooperation with Other Libraries
No formal cooperative collection development agreements are in place.
Alternative Access to Resources
Interlibrary loan is a source of materials not in the UT collection.
Membership in the Inter-University Consortium for Political and Social Research
(ICPSR) provides computer tape copies of data for statistical research purposes.
