General Purpose
The logistics and transportation collection of the University Libraries
supports a program of instruction, study, and research to the B.S., M.B.A.,
and Ph.D levels in Business Administration.
Subject Description
The program encompasses several specialities within the field including,
but not limited to, these areas: freight carrier operations, management of
logistics systems, international logistics and transportation, logistics and
transportation models.
Overlap with Other Subjects
Logistics and transportation overlaps with all departments within the
College of Business Administration and also with Computer Science and the
College of Engineering.
Languages Collected and Excluded
Primarily English language materials are collected.
Geographic Parameters
Although the program is international in scope, publications from the
United States, Great Britain, and Western Europe are of primary interest.
Other areas are considered selectively.
Chronological Scope
Emphasis is on current research, although classic texts are selectively
collected.
Dates of Publication
Current publications are of primary interest.
Retrospective Acquisitions
Retrospective collecting is limited to special circumstances.
Types of Materials Collected and Excluded
All types of materials are considered but emphasis is on advanced texts.
scholarly monographs, and research publications and journals. Transportation
directories, schedules, atlases, manuals, and statistics are also of interest.
Formats of Materials Collected and Excluded
Print materials are emphasized. Audiovisual materials are collected in
some subject areas.
Cooperation with Other Libraries
No formal cooperative collection development agreements are in place.
Alternative Access to Resources
Interlibrary loan is a source of materials not in the UT Libraries
collection.
