General Purpose
To support instruction, study, and research at B.S. and M.S. levels in
Industrial Engineering and M.S. in Engineering Management.
Subject Description
The program emphasizes the following subject areas: quality control,
operations research, manufacturing processes and materials, production and
inventory systems design, material handling systems and facilities design, human
factors engineering, and mathematical modeling and simulation of complex systems.
Overlap with Other Subjects
Industrial Engineering overlaps with engineering science and mechanics,
mechanical engineering, business (management), computer science, and biology.
Languages Collected and Excluded
English is the primary language. Secondary languages include Western
European languages, Chinese, Japanese, and Russian which are acquired selectively
depending on research and project needs.
Geographic Parameters
Publications from the United States and Great Britain are of primary
interest with less emphasis on those from Western Europe and Japan. Materials
from other areas are considered rarely.
Chronological Scope
Emphasis is on current research.
Dates of Publication
Current publications are collected.
Retrospective Acquisitions
Retrospective purchases are considered only under special circumstances,
i.e., for new programs where basic materials (monographs, serials, and
periodicals) are needed to update the collection.
Types of Materials Collected and Excluded
Scholarly and research publications, handbooks, association publications,
proceedings, and advanced texts are collected.
Formats of Materials Collected and Excluded
In addition to print formats, all other formats are considered.
Cooperation With Other Libraries
Cooperative agreements are in effect with Martin Marietta Energy Systems.
Alternative Access to Resources
