General Purpose

To support instruction, research, and extension services at B.S. and M.S. levels in Forestry, Wildlife and Fisheries Science.

Subject Description

The program emphasizes the following subject areas: forest biology, forest management and inventory, forest recreation, wildlife and fisheries management, conservation, biology and aquaculture.

Overlap with Other Subjects

Forestry, Wildlife and Fisheries Science overlaps with botany, ecology, zoology, plant and soil science, and veterinary science.

Languages Collected and Excluded

English is the primary language of the collection.

Geographic Parameters

Publications from the United States are collected. Publications from the British Commonwealth, Western Europe and Africa are added selectively.

Chronological Scope

Emphasis is on current research and developments.

Dates of Publication

Primarily current publications are collected.

Retrospective Acquisitions

Minimal emphasis is placed on retrospective collecting.

Types of Materials Collected and Excluded

The primary types of materials collected are texts relating to forestry, wildlife and fisheries; international, national and state documents; and conference and symposia proceedings. Fishing-as-a-hobby materials are not collected.

Formats of Materials Collected and Excluded

Books, serials and selected microformats are collected.

Cooperation with Other Libraries

No formal cooperative collection development agreements are in place.

Alternative Access to Resources

Interlibrary loan is a source of materials not in the UT collection.
