General Purpose

To support instruction, research and extension services at B.S. and M.S. levels in Food Technology and Science.

Subject Description

The program emphasizes the application of science and engineering to the manufacture, preservation, storage, transportation, and consumer use of food products.

Overlap with Other Subjects

Food Technology and Science overlaps with nutrition, hotel and restaurant administration, agricultural engineering, and animal science.

English is the primary language of the collection.

The collection is international in scope.

Chronological Scope

Emphasis is on current research and developments.

Dates of Publication

Current publications are mainly added.

Retrospective Acquisitions

Very little emphasis is placed on retrospective collecting.

Types of Materials Collected and Excluded

The primary types of materials added are upper division and graduate level texts; trade publications; government documents; and professional research literature. Popular treatments, cookbooks and the literature of human nutrition are not generally collected.

Formats of Materials Collected and Excluded

Emphasis is on books and journals.

Cooperation with Other Libraries

No formal cooperative collection development agreements are in place.

Alternative Access to Resources

Interlibrary loan is a source of materials not in the UT collection.
