General Purpose

To support study, instruction, and research at B.S., M.S., and Ph.D levels in Child and Family Studies.

Subject Description

The program emphasizes child and family studies with concentrations in applied child development, family and human development, and family life education.

Child and Family Studies overlaps with psychology, sociology, education, statistics, social work, economics, public health, health, leisure and safety.

English language materials are primarily collected.

Geographic Parameters

Focus is primarily on the United States.

Chronological Scope

Emphasis is on current literature. Historical items are added secondarily.

Dates of Publication

Mainly current publications are added.

Retrospective Acquisitions

Retrospective collecting is performed to fill gaps in the collection, both monographs and journals.

Types of Materials Collected and Excluded

The types of materials added are primarily research journals, practical application journals, publications of national professional associations, and conference proceedings.

Formats of Materials Collected and Excluded

Primarily print materials are collected. Electronic and audiovisual publications are added selectively.

Cooperation with Other Libraries

No formal cooperative collection development agreements are in place.

Alternative Access to Resources

In addition to interlibrary loan, the collection of the UT Law Library is a source of materials not in the UT collection.
