General Purpose

To support instruction, study, and research at B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. levels in Chemistry.

Subject Description

The program emphasizes analytical, chemical physics, inorganic, organic, physical chemistry, and polymer science.

Overlap with Other Subjects

Chemistry overlaps with biochemistry, chemical, engineering, materials science, geology, physics, plant and soil science, food technology, food science, and nutrition.

Languages Collected and Excluded

English is the primary language collected. German, French and Russian materials are added selectively.

Geographic Parameters

The collection is international in scope with an emphasis on United States and European publications.

Chronological Scope

Emphasis is on current research with extensive backfiles being retained.

Current publications are primarily collected.

Retrospective Acquisitions

Very selective acquisition of journal backfiles.

All types of materials are collected with emphasis on scholarly monographs and journals. Conference and symposia proceedings, technical reports and technical translations are selectively collected.

All formats are collected with an emphasis on print and electronic.

Cooperation with Other Libraries

No formal cooperative collection development agreements are in place.

Alternative Access to Resources

Interlibrary loan is a source of materials not in the UT collection.
