CDM Policy Statement - Chemical Engineering

General Purpose

To support instruction, study, and research leading to the B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering.

Subject Description

The program emphasizes the following subject areas: chemical bioengineering, advanced control systems, and polymer science and engineering.

Overlap with Other Subjects

Chemical Engineering overlaps with materials science, chemistry, biochemistry and environmental engineering.

Languages Collected and Excluded

English is the primary language. Secondary languages include Western European languages, Chinese, Japanese, and Russian which are acquired selectively depending on research and project needs.

Geographic Parameters

Publications from the United States and Great Britain are of primary interest with less emphasis on those from Western Europe and Japan. Materials from other areas will be considered selectively.

Chronological Scope

Emphasis is on current research.

Dates of Publication

Current publications are of primary interest.

Retrospective Acquisitions

Retrospective purchases are considered only under special circumstances, i.e., for new programs where basic materials (monographs, serials, and periodicals) are needed to update the collection.

Types of Materials Collected and Excluded

With the general exception of textbooks, laboratory manuals and dissertations, scholarly publications of all types are collected.

Formats of Materials Collected and Excluded

In addition to traditional print formats, all other formats will be considered.

Cooperation with Other Libraries

Cooperative agreements are in effect with Martin Marietta Energy Systems.

Alternative Access to Resources

Interlibrary loan is a source of materials not in the UT collection.
