General Purpose
To support instruction, study, and research in Botany at B.S., M.S., and
Ph.D. levels in Botany.
Subject Description
The program emphasizes the following subject areas: general botany, plant
taxonomy, plant genetics, plant physiology, plant ecology, plant morphology and
anatomy.
Overlap with Other Subjects
Botany overlaps with biology, ecology, forestry, plant and soil science,
and ornamental horticulture and landscape design.
Languages Collected and Excluded
English is the primary language of the collection. Western European
languages, Chinese and Japanese materials are collected secondarily.
Geographic Parameters
Publications from all areas of the world are collected, but the emphasis
is on North American, Japanese, Central and Latin American materials.

Primarily current research is collected.

Current publications are primarily collected.
Retrospective Acquisitions
Retrospective collecting is very selective.

Primarily texts, conference and symposia proceedings, state, national, and
international documents, professional organization publications, and research

Books, journals, and microforms are collected.

No formal cooperative collection development agreements are in place.
Alternative Access to Resources
Interlibrary loan is a source of materials not in the UT collection.
