The program emphasizes the following subject areas: animal genetics, animal
management, animal nutrition, and animal physiology and endocrinology.

Animal Science overlaps with zoology, biochemistry, microbiology,
nutrition, forestry, wildlife and fisheries.

English is the primary language of the collection.
Geographic Parameters
Publications from the United States are primarily collected. Publications
from Britain and Western Europe are collected secondarily.
Chronological Scope
Emphasis is on current research and developments.
Dates of Publication
Mainly current publications are collected.
Retrospective Acquisitions
Very little emphasis is placed on retrospective collecting.
Types of Materials Collected and Excluded
The types of materials collected are primarily texts relating to all areas
of animal science; publications and documents of international, national and
state organizations, agencies and associations; and conference and symposia
proceedings. Popular treatments are added selectively.

Primarily books and journals are collected.
Cooperation with Other Libraries
No formal cooperative collection development agreements are in place.
Alternative Access to Resources
Interlibrary loan is a source of materials not in the UT collection.
