CDM Policy Statement - Agricultural Economics

General Purpose

To support research, instruction, and extension at the B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. levels in Agricultural Economics and Rural Sociology.

Subject Description

The program emphasizes farm management economics, agricultural marketing and finance, agribusiness, agricultural law and regulation, economic and social theories, land economics, international agricultural development, and rural sociology.

English is the primary language of the collection.

The collection is international in scope with special emphasis on areas of the world where we have programs.

Current research and relevant historical items in economic theory are collected.

Dates of Publication

Current publications are collected.

Retrospective Acquisitions

Not much emphasis is placed on historical items; therefore retrospective collecting is used to fill gaps in the collection.

Types of Materials Collected and Excluded

Types of materials added to the collection are primarily texts regarding international, national, and state documents; conference and symposia proceedings of professional organizations; and statistical reports and studies.

Formats of Materials Collected and Excluded

Books, journals, microforms and some loose-leaf services are primarily collected.

Cooperation with Other Libraries

No formal cooperative collection development agreements are in place.

Alternative Access to Resources

Interlibrary loan is a source of materials not in the UT collection.
