WIL Home || Schedule || Writers in ResidenceThe Writers in the Library series began in 1999, as a venue for students in UT's graduate creative writing program to present their works. Since that time, the series has expanded to include readings by students, local authors, musicians, and renowned writers and poets.
Notable readers include Ted Kooser, Elizabeth Gilbert, Charles Wright, Steve Earle, and Yusef Komunyakaa.
The series is managed by the University of Tennessee Libraries Jack E. Reese Writer in Residence. The current Writer in Residence is Kali Meister. (2008- )

Tuesday, September 2 - Alan Gratz, award-winning young adult author
Monday, September 15 - Matthew Urmy and Alan Najberg
Monday, October 6 - Margaret Dean UT English Dept
Thursday, October 30 - Charles Fishman (sponsored by Judaic Studies, WIL, and the English Department) - Reading to be in the Toyota Auditorium at the Baker Center
Monday, November 3 - Knoxville Writers Guild for their new anthology Outscapes

January 14 - Scott Miller, singer/songwriter and lead for the Knoxville band, Scott Miller and the Commonwealth

February 11 - MariJo Moore, author/artist/poet whose works draw on her Cherokee heritage

February 25 - Julie Auer and Steven Dupree. Julie Auer is a lawyer who writes about crime and punishment.

March 10 - Michael Knight, UT associate professor of creative writing
March 24 - Linda Parsons Marion and Judy Loest. Marion and Loest are both prize-winning poets. Linda Marion is poetry editor of Now & Then magazine.
April 14 - Student recipients of the John C. Hodges Graduate Writing Prizes in fiction and poetry
April 21 - RB Morris and others - Greg Congleton, Jesse Graves, Brian Griffin, Marilyn Kallet, Charlotte Pence, and Jack Rentfro
