Cataloging creates, edits and prepares bibliographic database records for the books, journals, maps, audiovisual materials, archival materials and Internet resources displayed to the public in the online catalog. The cataloging process includes bibliographic description, subject analysis, classification, authority control, holdings display, and database maintenance. Catalogers work diligently to provide timely and accurate records of all materials on the library shelves, plus records for Internet resources of interest to the library users. In addition, catalogers are happy to answer the public's questions about any aspect of cataloging and fix errors and discrepancies on cataloging records that may have been missed.
