Use databases to find articles or statistics. A good place to start is in the Social Work & Sociology Databases.
Many articles will be available full text online. If you would like a copy of something that is not available online, go to ILLiad, our document delivery service, and request that it be sent to you.
You will also find many kinds of statistics in databases. But if you are looking for something that you cannot find, be sure to let me know. We have a Data Services librarian, who will be glad to help.
With resources collected by Steven Milewski, the Social Work Librarian, this can be an important tool for Social Work research.
Finding Articles on Blackboard
Your professor will tell you where on Blackboard he/she has uploaded the required readings. (You might find that some professors place them in “Course Assignments, while others upload them in “Course Documents.” Be sure to check if you cannot locate them. Log on, using your userID and password and click on the appropriate place.
Books and Copies of Articles (Document Delivery)
Use the UT Catalog to look for books, videos, or to see if we own certain journals. (Not journal articles; look for those in ArticlesDatabases.)
For help on searching the catalog, follow along with the Finding Books Tutorial. Other tutorials are available from the main library homepage.
This is the document delivery service at UTK. When you need books or articles, this is the fastest and easiest way to get a copy of what you need.
