iLife - Sound Creation / Editing: GarageBand

Course Description

Description: This production class is designed to introduce participants to GarageBand, Apple's music creation/recording software.
Course Format:
20 minutes of lecture followed by 40 minutes for hands-on practice and questions.

Course Objectives

  1. Present an overview of the GarageBand interface.
  2. Demonstrate basic components of an arrangement.
  3. Demonstrate recording from an external sound input or microphone.
  4. Demonstrate working with GarageBand loops.
  5. Demonstrate working with the video track in GarageBand to score an iMovie project.
  6. Demonstrate working with the podcast track in GarageBand to create an enhanced podcast.

Course Outcomes

  1. Participants should gain a basic understanding of the features of GarageBand.
  2. Participants should be able to construct a basic arrangement in GarageBand using both GarageBand loops and an external recording device.
  3. Participants should gain a basic understanding of using GarageBand when creating an enhanced podcast or when working with an iMovie video file.
