SOUTHEASTERN NATIVE AMERICAN DOCUMENTS PROJECT:
Thanks to a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), the University of Georgia Libraries, the University of Tennessee at Knoxville Library, the Frank H. McClung Museum, the Tennessee State Library and Archives, the Tennessee State Museum, and the Museum of the Cherokee Indian have chosen approximately 2,000 original documents and visual images relating to the Native American population of the Southeastern United States. These documents and images represent the most significant holdings from each collection and range in date from 1730 to 1842 and include letters, diaries, military orders, maps, and legal documents. These materials have been scanned and marked up by staff at UGA and UTK, then presented as full-text searchable SGML documents and images on the GALILEO web server at the University of Georgia.
