Special Collections Services for Researchers
What Can We Do For You?
The Special Collections Library is committed to providing researchers unparalleled access to its collections of primary sources. We work with local, regional, national, and international scholars on a variety of research projects.
Researchers use our collections to produce dissertations, theses, journal articles, books, documentary films, and a variety of other scholarly and non-scholarly publications. We have a proven record of working with the scholarly community, the university, and the press.
The challenges of primary source research make assistance from a Research Services Specialist a crucial part of the research process. Our Research Services Team is dedicated to making your research experience productive and efficient.
When possible, we want to go beyond the finding aid to provide all of our users with the best that we have to offer. We have developed online tools to target materials before your visit including full-text searchable finding aids of a majority of collections, research guides for general introductions to subject strengths, and digital collections of original material.
Research Program
We are planning to launch a Research Program for scholars. The program will provide small research stipends for long-distance researchers. An award committee will determine the merit of each proposal. Awardees will present their results during the Special Collections Lecture Series. Check back for more information on this program.
Contact Us
The Research Services Team welcomes advance notice of a research trip, although prior contact is not required. We may be able to target materials before your visit. We can also offer suggestions for accommodations, parking, and nearby attractions.
