There are many histories of military units and ships, and newspapers written at the various fronts. Many narratives of prisoners of war are included.
Biographical Note/Information: The
various separate collections that compose our collective World War II Collections
- see the manuscripts directory for the other WWII material -- were acquired
by the University of Tennessee's Center for the Study of War and Society.
The Center, established by the late Dr. Charles Johnson with the cooperation
of the Special Collections Library, gathered the material for the purpose
of studying the effects of the war on the common soldier.
