Reproduction Polices
Requests for permission to photocopy materials in the collections are considered by Special Collections staff on a case by case basis; no copies may be made without permission of the staff. Copies of entire books or manuscript collections are not permitted. The use of personal photocopies or scanners to copy materials in the collections is not permitted without express permission from the Head of Special Collections. Photographs may be made of selected pages of books, manuscripts, maps, ephemera, newspapers, prints, or photographic images. Please consult with the staff member at the reference desk regarding the proper procedure. Deposit of copies (xerox/photographic) in another repository is prohibited, unless expressly consented to in written form by the Head of Special Collections.
Patrons wishing to photocopy or otherwise reproduce items contained in the Library's manuscript collections must fill out a copyright release form. (PDF file) This form is also available in the Special Collections Reading Room.
Patrons wishing to obtain scans of any items must fill out a scan request form. (PDF file) This form is also available in the Special Collections Reading Room. Requests will be denied if the material is deemed to be too fragile to withstand scanning or if more than 10 scans are requested at one time. To make arrangements for processing a large request, please contact the Library.
