To locate information about tests and evaluative instruments, consult the following sources. Entries usually include information on obtaining copies or specimen sets of tests from publishers, or journal citations if the test was published in an article. Tests are NOT usually held by UT Libraries.

The principal authoritative work in the measurement field. Contains information about English-language commercially-available tests covering educational skills, personality, vocational aptitude, psychology, and related areas. The Mental Measurements Yearbook database does not contain the actual tests; usually they must be obtained from the test publisher. See description in Print Resources.
A directory of tests in the health fields, psychosocial sciences, organizational behavior, and library and information sciences. Includes questionnaires, interview schedules, checklists, rating scales, projective techniques, and other types of instruments. Search by test or subscale title, author, keyword or descriptor. Entries include the source of the test information, abstract, and reliability and validity information.
To find journal articles or other literature on tests or assessments, search the PsycINFO or education databases.
To find abstracts of dissertations based on research using a particular test, use Dissertation Abstracts. Type in a test name or keywords. Note: Non-UTK dissertations are not usually held in the library. You may request them through Interlibrary Services.

Contains information about English-language commercially-available tests covering educational skills, personality, vocational aptitude, psychology, and related areas. For each test, Mental Measurements Yearbook provides a detailed description*, price information, and original reviews prepared by experts. It does not contain the actual tests; usually they must be obtained from the the test publisher. Six indexes help users identify appropriate tests: title, acronym, subject, publisher, author/reviewer name, and scores. The Mental Measurements Yearbooks are not cumulative. Each edition includes a unique set of tests.
* Descriptive elements include: test name, test author, publication date, scores, publisher, acronym, purpose, population, administration, manual, time, and comments.
A comprehensive index to currently commercially available tests. Tests in Print includes the same descriptive information as Mental Measurements Yearbook, but not the reviews.
This collection briefly describes 850 measures for attributes of organizations and individuals that were reported in the literature from 1950 to 1992. The major categories used are Organizational Analysis and Evaluation; Leadership, Performance and Supervision; Work Motivation, Job Satisfaction and Stress; The Individual/Professional and the Organization; Relationships between the Professional and the Organization; and Diagnostic Surveys of Organizations and Schools. Indexes are available to search by author, test title or categories. (See related title, Handbook of Tests and Measurement in Education and the Social Sciences.)
Volume 1 offers copies (reprinted with permission) of short, easy-to-score instruments relating to couples, families and children. Volume 2 contains similar instruments for adults. To select an instrument, use the list of Instruments Cross-Referenced by Problem Area.
Contains 235 entries, organized alphabetically, covering a wide variety of fields in psychological testing and assessment. Entries include a general conceptual and methodological overview, a section on relevant assessment devices, links to related concepts, and references.
More than 100 instruments - many unpublished and not yet validated - are described. Volume 1 covers measures for infants through adults, language assessment, parental attitudes, and family dynamics. Volume 2 includes measures of worldview, spirituality, acculturation, racial identity, mental health, and other areas. Use the name and subject indexes to locate tests.

An ongoing series covering all age and grade levels, these volumes list a total of over 17,000 published and unpublished measures. Categories of tests are achievement (v. 1); vocational (v. 2); special populations (v. 3); cognitive aptitude and intelligence (v. 4); attitude (v. 5); and affective measures and personality (v. 6). Access is by subject, author and title indexes.
A compilation of over 120 actual instruments (or in some cases, sample items), both published and unpublished. Tests relating to personality or psychology are excluded. Use author or instrument indexes to find tests. (See related title, Instrumentation in Education: An Anthology.)
A source of critical reviews of about 200 tests in use in the British Education System, in areas such as early development, language, mathematics, composite attainments, general abilities, personality and counseling, and miscellaneous other topics.
Describes 11 clinically popular tests, four observational measures, and 31 pencil-and-paper tests - all but one published since 1975. The entries for the last 31 tests usually include complete inventories, which may only be copied by permission of the copyright holder.
Includes sections on instruments for health and function, assessing health promotion activities, and assessing clinical problems. Some chapters include a summary of dimensions measured, reliability, and validity of tests, as well as an extensive bibliography.
