  • A single volume reference source that attempts to cover all aspects of the environment. Contains short signed articles written by experts in the field.

  • Dictionary of Ecology and Environmental Science (GE10.D53 1993 Ref.)
  • A good dictionary to quickly access concepts and definitions central to ecology and environmental sciences.

  • Encyclopedia of Environmental Analysis and Remediation (GE10.E492 1999)
  • This eight volume set covers topics such as air pollution control,environmental law and regulations, environmental sampling, hazardous waste remediation, pollution in the biosphere, water reclamation, and much more.

  • Encyclopedia of Pollution and Cleanup (GE10.E492 1999)
  • A two volume set that provides an introduction to environmental science, environmental technology and environmental issues. Focuses heavily on pollution and cleanup issues.

  • Encyclopedia of World Environmental History (GF10.E63 2004)
  • Contains conscise overviews of hundreds of topics, events, people, natural resources, and aspects of human culture and natural history.

  • Environmental Encylopedia (GE.E57 3rd edition.20030)
  • A multi volume set of alphabetically arranged topics. Also contains a chronology of environmental events and a summary of environmental legislation.

  • Environmental Profiles: A Global Guide to Projects and People (GE1.K38 1993 Ref.)
  • A resource for linking and spotlighting international environmental efforts. Organized by country. Each profile includes organization, projects and people, and resources.

  • Gale Environmental Almanac (GE80.H69 1993 Ref.)
  • This single volume provides a good overview of environmental problems. Edited by journalist Russ Hoyle, founding editor of Environment and Business.

  • Gale Environmental Sourcebook (GE20.G35 Ref.)
  • Provides information on over 12,000 organizations, agencies, and publications concerned with the environment. Citations are also grouped according to subject area. Topics include acid rain, air pollution, ground water, hazardous waste, pesticides, radon, recycling, etc.

  • Great Events from History II: Ecology and the Environment Series (5 volumes)
  • Arranged chronologically by date of event. Includes wide range of topics and events that have had profound environmental consequences (i.e. oil spills, toxic wastes, release of radioactive materials).

  • The Sierra Club Green Guide: Everybody's Desk Reference to Environmental Information (GE 30.F45 Ref.)
  • Contains a wide range of sources including government clearinghouses, trade and non-profit organizations, directories, handbooks, indices, and periodicals.

  • World Directory of Environmental Organizations (GE20.W67 1996 Ref.)
  • A handbook of national and international organizations and programs, concerned with protecting the Earth's resources 1978 to present.
