Life of the Mind: After You Arrive in August
The University will be hosting events and activities featuring Ishmael Beah's A Long Way Gone during Welcome Week and throughout the Fall Semester. One such activity is a small discussion group conversation about the book led by a UT faculty member. For the discussion you will be asked to prepare in advance a one page response to the book. More details about this activity and others can be found on the UT Life of the Mind Home.
The University Libraries will also have exhibits and events related to the Life of the Mind book program. Details will appear throughout the summer and fall on our library web page. As you have additional Life of the Mind activities and assignments through the year to come, you will find many more books and articles on the themes found in A Long Way Gone by exploring the University Libraries collections.
