Library Services for Honors Students

Library Privileges

Borrowing
As an Honors student, you have graduate student privileges and may borrow books for 16 weeks. By logging into My Account within the Libraries' catalog, you can see what books you have checked out, renew books online, and request books be held for you.

Questions about your library account? Call 975-4351, or visit the Circulation Desk on the 2nd floor of Hodges Library or at any of the branches.
Carrels
Honors students may reserve a graduate carrel in Hodges Library. To apply, ask at the Circulation Desk on the second floor of Hodges Library.

Support for Research

Library Collections
UT Libraries have over 2 million volumes and access to almost 20,000 magazines, newspapers, and journals. Whether you're looking for books, journal articles, maps, government documents, music, or other materials, we have something for you.
Research Services and Collections
Need help finding articles for your paper? Can't find your way in the stacks? Want a reliable web source? Whenever you have a question, just drop by the Research Assistance desk in the Commons North.

Don't have time to come to the library? Just give us a call at 974-4171, send us an e-mail, or ask your question through AskUsNow. Just look for the AskUs.Now! logo throughout the Libraries' web site.
Consultation
Although we're happy to help you at the Reference Desk, some questions take time to answer. If you have an in-depth research question or would simply like some one-on-one help without the interruptions at the desk, make an appointment through Research Assistance or with a Subject Librarian.

Data Services
Data Services provides assistance in identifying, locating, and acquiring machine-readable numeric data files from a broad range of sources, such as surveys, government agencies, and non-profit organizations. For more information, contact Eleanor Read at 974-0011 or dataserv@utk.edu.

Technology Support

The Commons
Located on the 2nd floor of Hodges Library, the Commons provides computers with a wide variety of software. You can also check out equipment, such as laptops and scanners. There's also a OIT HelpDesk and Computer Support Service Center if you need help with passwords, wireless, and other computer problems.

Practice Presentation Room
Need to practice your group presentation? Reserve the Practice Presentation Room located inside the Commons. The room comes equipped with a SMART Board interactive whiteboard and software as used in the Technology Enhanced Classrooms across campus.

The Studio
The Studio is a multimedia production lab that provides computers, software, and staff to assist you in the creation of multimedia projects. Here you will find graphics and video editing/production software not available in the computer labs as well as cameras and other equipment available for checkout.
