- MEDLINEplus
- Consumer oriented but excellent for health professionals. Dominant sources are federal such as NIH and the National Library of Medicine. Selected non-governmental resources are included.
- HealthWeb
- A searchable, peer-reviewed directory of Internet health resources created by medical librarians.
- InteliHealth
- Consumer oriented. From Harvard Medical School.
- Martindale's Health Sciences Guide
- Covers areas such as medicine, public health, nutrition, and veterinary medicine.
- Mayo Clinic Health Oasis
- MedWeb
- A frequently cited list of Internet resources maintained by Emory University Health Sciences Center Library.
- MedScape
- A rich source of clinical information featuring peer-reviewed articles and medical news. Organized by medical speciality. Registration required for full access to all features.

- Full-text access to 37 medical books including essential titles such as Williams Obstetrics, Harrison's Principles of Internal Medicine, 5-Minute Clinical Consult, ACP Medicine, and more.
- STATRef! Nursing

- Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ)
- "Provides evidence-based information on health care outcomes, quality, cost, use, and access."
- HSTAT
- Full-text access to clinical practice guidelines, quick-reference guides for clinicians, consumer guides, evidence reports, and technology assessments.
- Centers for Disease Control
- Major source of information on diseases, health risks, injuries, and disabilities.
- ClinicalTrials.gov
- National registry of research studies "in which new treatments are being tested in people to see if they are safe and effective."
- Department of Health and Human Services
- "The principal agency for protecting the health of all Americans and providing essential human services." A searchable database assists with finding subjects across multiple HHS sites.
- Food and Drug Administration
- Concerned with food, cosmetics, drugs, medical devices, radiation-emitting products, and food & drugs for animals.
- National Guideline Clearinghouse
- Includes summaries of clinical practice guidelines and comparisons of guidelines on similar topics. Full-text when available.
- National Institutes of Health
- As "the Federal focal point for biomedical research in the U.S.," the NIH is a valuable source of health information for such topics as AIDS; cancer; diseases of the heart, lung,and blood; diabetes; and neurological disorders such as stroke and epilepsy.
- National Library of Medicine

- HIV InSite
- Developed by the University of California San Francisco. HIV InSite is a gateway to in-depth information about HIV/AIDS including treatment and medical research, prevention, statistics, and social & policy issues.
- Divisions of HIV/AIDS Prevention - CDC
- Provides general information concerning HIV transmission, treatment, and clinical trials. Excellent source of statistics including the HIV/AIDS Surveillance Report.
- AIDS.gov
- Gateway to information on Federal HIV/AIDS prevention, testing, treatment, and research programs, policies, and resources.

Cancer
- National Cancer Institute (NCI)
- An excellent resourse for cancer information including disease summaries, treatment options, screening & prevention, statistics, and clinical trials.
- OncoLink
- An outstanding oncology information resource vetted by an editorial board of cancer experts. Documents target patients, families, and health care personnel. Covers the many types of cancer along with tests and treatments.
- American Cancer Society
- Includes fact sheets, statistics, and the breast cancer network.
Heart Disease
- American Heart Association (AHA)
- Provides hundreds of documents on heart and stroke related topics, biostatistical fact sheets, news releases, AHA advisories, and the tables of contents & abstracts for issues of AHA journals.
Women's Health
