From Robert Morris Associates, covers manufacturing, construction, wholesale, retail, and service industries. Each industry is presented in several asset size groups and ratios are divided into upper, median, and lower quartiles. Balance sheet and income data are also given for each industry segment.

Financial Studies of the Small Business Ref. HD2346.U5F55a
Provides financial ratios and balance sheet/income statement data for firms having a total capitalization under $250,000. Data for four asset size groups and a total for all groups is given. About fifty industries, primarily retail and service industries, are covered.

Industry Norms and Key Business Ratios Ref. HF5681.R25I53
From Dun & Bradstreet, balance sheet and income statement data are given for over 80 industry groups, arranged by industry code numbers. A joint effort of the U.S., Canada, and Mexico that replaces the Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) codes previously used to classify business information by product or service. Includes comparability tables to aid in the transition from the SIC's to the NAICS's.

Used by the U.S. government and by many business publications to classify business information according to industry, product, or service. Also has a link to the full 1987 version of the manual with full code descriptions.

Every 5 years the nation's businesses are counted and data is presented by industry category and geographically. Generally covers the number and size of establishments, sales, payroll, and number of employees by industry category.

Features a variety of statistics on employment, production, sales, income, inventories, and foreign trade in several broad industry categories.

Probably the best general source of statistical information, this annual publication contains data from both the federal government and many private organizations. If you need additional data, check the table footnotes for source publications where more information can be found.
