Top Databases
Use the databases
below to search for articles via keyword, subject, or author. Links
to the electronic version of the article are often available through
the Find Text feature
.
If the article is only available in print, Find Text will give you the
library's call number (location) for the journal. If the library doesn't
own it, Find Text will link to and automatically fill-in an Interlibrary
Loan form.
PubMed
(UT Libraries Version)(1950+)
Peer-reviewed articles on biomedical topics, including medical
research, genetics, bioinformatics, physiology, oncology, nursing and
more. Use this customized UT version of PubMed to link directly to the
library's holdings through Find Text. If you don't see the "Find
Text" button in the Abstract display, you are not in the customized
UT version.
Biological Abstracts (1969+)
Peer-reviewed articles and conference papers within biology, including
biochemistry, ecology, genetics, microbiology, ocean sciences, plant
biology and zoology.
Web of Science (1900+)
Peer-reviewed articles from more than 5,000 top science journals. Allows
searching by keyword and author. Also allows for citation searching,
the ability to track what articles have cited another article since
its publication.
SciFinder
Scholar (1907+)
The premiere database for searching the chemical literature.

Encyclopedias & Dictionaries
Reading about your
topic in a specialized encyclopedia, dictionary, or handbook may be
one of the most effective and time saving research tips. These resources
can help you define unfamiliar terms, understand the parameters of current
debate in a particular area and provide you with a preliminary bibliography
on the subject. Here are a few sources to get you started. For more,
search the library catalog by keyword.
