Open Publishing Support Fund

Increasing the Impact of UTK Research Through Open Access

Application Instructions

Follow these instructions to request funding for publishing charges for articles in journals that provide free, immediate access to the contents and unrestricted non-commercial use with no embargo periods. Hybrid journals that make only selected articles open access are not included in the pilot project.

  1. Ask the journal publisher about the possibility of a waiver or reduction of publishing charges. Report the results of your request in the appropriate box on the application form.
  2. Complete and submit the online application form. Articles published after July 1, 2008 are eligible for consideration. Requests for funding can be made before or upon submission, or at the point of acceptance.
  3. If your request is funded, you will receive written confirmation from the UT Knoxville Office of Research.
  4. When the article is accepted, send the invoice and a copy of the confirmation to the UT Knoxville Office of Research, 1534 White Avenue, Knoxville, TN, 37996-1529 for payment.

Priority will be given to applicants who do not have grants or other institutional funds to cover open access fees. Please confirm that you do not have other sources of funding that could be used to cover open access fees by checking this box.
