Online Resources

Finding Articles - UTK Databases

Use databases to find articles or statistics. A good place to start is in the Social Work & Sociology Databases. Check also Academic Search Premier and InfoTrac OneFile, two very good general purpose databases.

Many articles will be available (full text) online. If you would like a copy of something that is not available online, go to ILLiad, our document delivery service, and request that it be sent to you.

Finding Statistics

You will also find many kinds of statistics in databases. But if you are looking for something that you cannot find, be sure to let me know. We have a Data Services librarian, who will be glad to help.

Social Work Subject Guide

With resources collected by Margaret Casado, the Social Work Librarian, this can be an important tool for Social Work research.

Books and Copies of Articles (Document Delivery)

Library Catalog

Use the UT Catalog to look for books, videos, or to see if we own certain journals. (Just not journal articles; look for those in Databases.) For help on searching the catalog, follow along with the Finding Books Tutorial. Other tutorials are available from the main library homepage.

ILLiad

This is the document delivery service at UTK. When you need books or articles, this is the fastest and easiest way to get access to what you need. We've even created a tutorial on how to use the ILLiad service. Remember, you can always request materials through this service. If UT owns them, we'll send them right on. If we don't have them, we will try to borrow them from another library. 865-974-4240; ilsmail@utk.edu
