Request Journal Articles
If you are a registered user of UTK
Libraries and are currently enrolled in off-campus courses offered
by UTK, you can request copies of journal articles.
WARNING CONCERNING COPYRIGHT RESTRICTIONS
The copyright law of the United States (Title
17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other
reproductions of copyrighted material.
Under certain conditions specified in the
law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy
or other reproduction. One of these specified conditions is that
the photocopy or reproduction is not to be "used for any purpose
other than private study, scholarship, or research." If a user
makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction
for purposes in excess of "fair use," that user may be liable
for copyright infringement.
This institution reserves the right to refuse
to accept a copying order, if, in its judgment, fulfillment of
the order would involve violation of copyright law.
When you have identified articles that you would like to see, you can
visit our document delivery site to make your requests.
We will send the articles that we have here
at UTK and will request others through interlibrary loan.
(Please note that interlibrary loan requests can take from several days to
2 weeks. Be sure to let us know if you don't have time to wait for
interlibrary loan requests.)
In order to request an article via ILLiad, you need
the following information:
- Title of journal
- Volume number
- Issue number
- Date of article/journal
- Pages
- Title of article
- Author(s)
- Source of reference (e.g., ERIC)
When you first visit the ILLiad site (for
all document delivery), you will need to register. Be
sure to identify yourself as a Distance Education graduate student,
faculty, or undergraduate.
Also be sure to request Distance Education
delivery if you live outside of Knoxville. We will scan articles
and mount them on a server and let you know when they are ready.
(This method is faster than mail!)
