National Geographic completed a study measuring and monitoring consumer progress toward environmentally sustainable consumption. Sampling 14 countries with the international polling firm GlobeScan, the survey provides an understanding of international consumer attitudes and the steps taken toward global environmentally sustainable consumption.

The Bookshelf is a growing collection of biomedical books that can be searched directly by typing a concept into the textbox above and selecting "Go".

The bookshelf link is the one labeled Books in the black bar at the far right of the PubMed screen.

The NCBI (National Center for Biotechnology Information) at the National
Institutes of Health collects a wide range of molecular biological data, and
develops tools and databases to analyse and disseminate this information. Many
life scientists are familiar with the website maintained by the NCBI
(http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov), because they use it to search GenBank for
homologues of their genes of interest or to search the PubMed database for
scientific literature of interest. There is also a database called the Bookshelf
that includes searchable popular life science textbooks, medical and research
reference books and NCBI reference materials. The Bookshelf can be useful for
researchers and educators to find basic biological information. This article
includes a representative list of the resources currently available on the
Bookshelf, as well as instructions on how to access the information in these
resources.

Sustainable Campus Report from Sustainable Endowments

Source: Inside Higher Ed 4/18/08: Students are more likely to act in environmentally friendly ways (or at least to report that they do) at colleges and universities where campus policies emphasize environmental sustainability, according to a survey of 1,700 students conducted by researchers at the College of William and Mary and released today. The survey, released by the Sustainable Endowments Institute, found that students at institutions that received A grades on the institute's sustainability "report card" were likelier than those at colleges that scored D's and F's to report limiting their energy use, limiting their appliances, and turning off their computers when not in use, among other behaviors. "When students perceive climate change to be a priority for their school, it really affects their individual actions," Samantha Weston, co-director of the study and a senior at William and Mary, said in a news release about the survey.

Help with the new CAB ABSTRACTS interface is available at you desktop.

CAB ABSTRACTS is the international, research database for agriculture and veterinary medicine.

The interface to CAB ABSTRACTS changed recently to Ovid.

The new Ovid interface is much different from the old one. The change was made because Ovid purchased SilverPlatter.

Fortunately, CABI trainer Chris Ison is offering free web-based training to anyone needing help searching
CAB ABSTRACTS.
