Visit the Encyclopedia of Life
The Encyclopedia of Life is officially up and running! An ambitious project to catalog each of the 1.8 million discovered species on Earth with their own web page, the first species profiles are available for viewing. Profiles include species' descriptions, information about the species' life histories, ecology, taxonomy, and literature references. Images of species are also included on profiles.
25 complete entries are available, as well as about 30,000 partial entries. Visit The Encyclopedia of Life today!

The new Web of Science interface is now (2/12/08) the only option to search WOS.
Recorded training from Web of Science is available on all the features of the database. It is worth your time.

UT Professors Teach Research Ethics Class
UT Professor and Ivan Racheff Chair of Excellence in Plant Molecular Genetics C. Neal Stewart, Jr. and Associate Professor and Graduate Director for the Department of Animal Science Professor J. Lannett Edwards, teamed up to teach a class on Research Ethics for graduate students in life sciences. Useful research and data available from MMWR
MMWR is a weekly report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention featuring statistical data and research reports dealing with morbidity and mortality issues in the United States. The documentation ranges from the recent report from National Association of State Public Health Veterinarians, Inc. entitled Compendium of Animal Rabies Prevention and Control, 2007*(April 6, 2007 / 56(RR03);1-8) to basic statistical data like Notifiable Diseases/Deaths in Selected Cities Weekly Information (April 20, 2007 / 56(15);374-385)

Resources-Food Nutrient Data
The United States Department of Agriculture provides an online database of the nutrient content of foods. A simple search for a specific food produces a nutrient content table similar to a product label. The data may be searched online through the National Nutrient Database for Standard Reference or download the data for use on a PC or PDA.
