Introduction to Digital Video: iMovie

Description: This class is designed to help get your project organized and prepared for editing by giving basic information about storyboarding, copyright & fair use issues, equipment reservations, and other pre-production details. In addition, the class will provide an introduction to the iMovie interface and cover basic editing techniques for the new iMovie user, helping you move from setting up your iMovie project to editing your footage for a finished movie.
Course Format:
20 minutes of lecture followed by 40 minutes for hands-on practice and questions.
Prerequisite:
none.

Advanced Editing: iMovie

Description: The advanced editing class expands on the previous class by using included components within iMovie to complete a prefabricated video as close to the original as possible in a hands-on approach.
Course Format:
1 hour hands-on class
Prerequisite:
If you do not have prior experience with basic digital video editing, take the Introduction to Digital Video course before this course.

DVD Authoring: iDVD

Description: DVD creation is the topic of this short course. Its focus is how to prepare your iMovie project for DVD distribution. It will also cover how to set up DVD menus and how to personalize your iDVD project.
Course Format:

Prerequisite:
Take our iMovie classes if you do not have prior experience with editing.

Beyond iMovie: Introduction to Final Cut Pro

Description: Feeling limited by iMovie? Take your movie-making skills to the next level and learn to use the tool the pros use. This demonstration class will cover the basics of Apple's professional-level editing software, Final Cut Pro. You will learn to set up a project, capture clips, different types of basic edits, working with the interface, and using the media manager.
Course Format:
This hour-and-a-half-long class will be a discussion and demonstration only. Although there is not a hands-on section, attendees should gain a basic understanding of the software.
Prerequisite:
Experience using iMovie or similar nonlinear video editing software and knowledge of basic video editing concepts.
