Video and Audio Circulation Policies

The service point for videos and audios located in Hodges Library is the Circulation/Media/Reserves service desk located at the Melorose entrance.

* Exceptions for Duration and Max Allowed can be made by a Desk Supervisor

** Graduate and Honors Students may check out videos except for Feature Films (A feature film is defined as any video with a call number beginning with "PN"). Exceptions for graduate student instructors may be made by a Desk Supervisors.

In-House Use

The library permits the in-house use of its collection and reserve materials to anyone with a valid UT ID. Computers in The Commons can play the DVDs and headphones can be checked out at the Commons North desk. In room 245 next to The Studio there are individual stations for VHS, two large screen televisions, five small group viewing rooms (2-4 people), and some all-region DVD machines.

Students and Faculty from other universities and schools may also use materials in-house if they have a valid ID from their institution. Other exceptions are made on a case by case basis, please talk to the Circulation/Media/Reserves staff. Minors are required to be accompanied by an adult at all times. Video Circulation

To allow use of the Media Center video collection for instruction outside the confines of the library, the Library circulates these materials to Faculty and Graduate Students for three days. Faculty members and Graduate Students must present their ID to check-out videos. Faculty may have a GTA or TA pick up materials with a proxy card. Proxy cards may be obtained through the Circulation/Media/Reserves department.

Please Note the following:

Feature films are not available for out-of-building circulation except to faculty.
Titles scheduled for group viewing or placed on reserve status are not available for circulation.
There is a maximum of three items to any borrower at one time.
Circulation is for 72 hours and materials are not routinely renewable. If you need a longer period, please talk to one of the staff at the time of checkout.
The fine for graduate students returning items late is 25 cents/hour.
Titles for checkout may be scheduled by Faculty (and Graduate Students teaching a class) in advance to ensure availability.
Faculty (and Graduate Students teaching a class) may place their own materials on reserve for a period of time. These materials do not circulate outside of the library.

Checkout and Return Procedure

Check out video materials at the Circulation/Media/Reserves service desk using a valid UT ID card.
Return borrowed items directly to the Circulation/Media/Reserves service desk. Please do not return these materials in the library book drops.
Faculty who want to use Library Express or Interlibrary Loan, please see links below.

Audio

To allow use of the Hodges Library's audio the Library circulates these materials to Faculty, Graduate Students, and Undergraduate Students for three days. Please note the following:

Music audio is located in the Music Library, not Hodges Library
A maximum of three items are available to any borrower at one time.
Circulation is for 72 hours and materials are not routinely renewable. If you need a longer period, please talk to one of the staff at the time of checkout.
The fine for graduate and undergraduate students returning items late is 25 cents/hour
Titles for checkout may be scheduled by Faculty (and Graduate Students teaching a class) in advance to ensure availability.
Faculty (and Graduate Students teaching a class) may place their own personal copies of videos on reserve for a period of time. These materials do not circulate outside of the library.
