Hodges Library
The following outline names the areas and floors where specific services are found throughout Hodges Library.
Ground Floor
- Receive specialized help with maps and cartographic material
- Borrow GPS units
First Floor
Research Services & Collections
- Make an appointment with a subject librarian
- Use computers with full range of software
- Use encyclopedias, dictionaries and other reference materials
- Study in a quiet space
- Contains government documents (congressional records) and materials on microfilm
- Auditorium
- Group Viewing Room (129)
- Library Instruction Rooms (127, 128)
- Interlibrary Services
Second Floor
- Borrow laptops, scanners, floppy drives and other equipment
- Consult with a librarian on doing research for your papers and projects
- Receive computer and printing help
- Practice presentations in the Presentation Practice Room
- Use computers with Internet access, fully-loaded with a wide variety of software
- Configure your laptop for the UT wireless network
- Use PCs and Macs with advanced media production software
- Receive assistance and instruction
- Check out media equipment such as digital and video cameras
- Check out or renew books and media
- Pay fines and check library account status
- Retrieve items from Interlibrary Services, Library Express and Reserve

Third-Sixth Floors
Often referred to as "the stacks", floors three through six contain the majority of the UT Libraries' books. There are also quiet and group study areas available on these floors. Items can be located by the first letter(s) of the call number:
- 3rd Floor - A-GF, Z and Children's and Young Adult Literature
- 4th Floor - GN-PR
- 5th Floor - PS-S
- 6th Floor - T-V, Theses and Dissertations
