Using Thesauri and Indexes

Another helpful search strategy for use in a number of databases is the database's thesaurus or index. If you are doing a search and are not sure how effective your search terms are, you can use a database's built-in thesaurus or index to see if your search term is the best one to use for your topic.

For example, if I was not sure if women was the best term to use, I could use the subject terms index to browse and see if the term is used in the database.
