Selecting a Database

Click here to view a video about finding articles: http://www.lib.utk.edu/refs/engcomp/fa.html

To find articles at the UT Libraries, you will need to use a database. These databases index articles published in scholarly research journals, popular magazines, newspapers, conference proceedings, and other sources.

If you already know the title of the magazine or journal you need, check availability and holdings in paper or online in the UT Libra Catalog, or check the E-journals list for online access only.

  • Select Databases/Indexes.

To find articles on your topic, start with the library databases.

  • Choose a category.

The databases are divided into sections by subject area. Click on one of the subjects to see Library databases related to that subject.

The category called General Topics is a good place to start research on most topics.
