Microforms
Microform Research Collections
Microform materials are located in the storage collection in the Hoskins Library building on Cumberland Avenue. The storage collection includes microfilm and some microcards. Check the Hoskins Storage / Closed Stacks page for access to materials in storage.
Microfiche collections arranged in cabinets are located in Room 120 on the first floor of the John C. Hodges Library. Print guides to microform sets are shelved at the back of the room. Collections are accessible during regular library hours. Ask for help at the Research Assistance desk in Commons North.
Microforms are cataloged and arranged on shelves (microfilm) or in cabinets (microfiche) according to the Library of Congress classification system. These research collections include government documents, manuscripts, dissertations, technical reports, newspapers, and other primary source materials. Check the online catalog for content information and locations.
Finding Aids
While microform collections owned by the library are searchable using the library's online catalog, not all sets have been fully analyzed. In some cases, searching the catalog by title, author, or subject will retrieve the collection, but not individual items that are part of the collection. Consulting specialized indexes, guides and finding aids will help to retrieve these items. Guides available in print form are shelved in Room 120. Some guides are available online and may be searched by subject/title/keyword to identify materials in collections.
