Programs and Events

ETLA typically organizes five meetings during the membership year; two in the fall and three in the spring. (Our membership year runs July 1-June 30.) Our programs are open to the public, and newcomers are always welcome!

East Tennessee Library Association’s 45th Annual Mary Utopia Rothrock Lecture and Dinner

Author Sam Venable will speak on his Knoxville News Sentinel article series
“Fragments of Hate: Prejudice and Healing in East Tennessee” and the research behind it.
The series focused on the shooting of integration pioneer Charles Moulden in 1968.
Mr. Venable will also offer a brief retrospective on his own career.

The 45th Annual Rothrock Lecture and Dinner will be held on October 29th, 2015,
with a meet and greet at 5:30 pm and dinner at 6 pm at Bridgewater Place in Knoxville, TN.
The cost of the lecture and dinner is $25 ($15 for students).
