III. Treasurer’s Report

-Anjanae reported no change in the balance since last meeting, and with no additional memberships being reported, the balance remains at $1156.55. Discussion followed of electronic payments, most options explored to date have required a per-transaction charge and were thus problematic.  Michael informed the group that the Tennessee Health Sciences Library Association had implemented such a system, and would contact their webmaster to get details on whether this might work for ETLA.

Planning for Upcoming Programs

1. Rothrock Dinner Planning:

The venue has been selected for the Rothrock Dinner: the King Family Library in Sevierville to be held in conjunction with the annual Sevier County Public Library Genealogy Conference, to be held October 30th, 2014.  The speaker, Chuck Sherrill, Tennessee State Librarian, will provide the address.  An honorarium is being planned in appreciation.  Catering for the event is still being planned.

2. Flyer for Fall Hike:

Circe has completed the flyer for the fall hike, and distribution of this was planned.  A copy will be uploaded to the website and linked to from emails sent to various distribution lists, including TLA, SIS, SIS-Alumni.

3. Career Panel:

Planning for the career panel in the fall has been challenging due to the more distributed nature of SIS students.  Finding an optimum time which would draw in the maximum number of students while not interfering with scheduled evening classes has been problematic.  It was discussed that a more casual, informal networking opportunity at a local restaurant, closer to the end of the semester, might draw in more participants, particularly if food is offered.

4. Other Programs:

Matt proposed looking into having a program with the other two regional east Tennessee library associations, CALA and Boone Tree.  Matt also brought up the national day of service next spring as a good service opportunity for ETLA.

VI. Other News:

Don Reynolds is compiling a monograph of collected essays about Mary Utopia Rothrock, and ETLA will contribute a chapter regarding its annual Rothrock Dinner and Lecture series.
