Duties and Responsibilities:
TThe University of Tennessee Libraries seeks a person qualified to provide statistical expertise to the development of a multi-faceted library assessment program. Assessment activities may include the use of statistics, surveys, user studies, focus groups, usability studies, and other assessment tools.
The individual will contribute to development of standard operating procedures for a new, broad-based program of library assessment, working with librarians and staff throughout the University Libraries. Has responsibility for technical duties and coordination in the collection, compilation, and analysis of statistical data using standard statistical techniques. Serves as a resource for individuals and groups engaged in assessment activities; may provide training or coordination of specific projects.
Prepares reports to summarize analysis of data, interpret findings, and provide conclusions and recommendations to management. Maintains web sites or other communication devices to report on quantity and quality of services.
Reports to the Assistant Dean of Libraries.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree with a preferred emphasis in statistics or significant coursework in statistics. Experience with applied statistics. Experience with statistical analysis programs such as SPSS, SAS, and Atlas.ti. Computer literacy, including expertise with standard office applications. Excellent time management and organizational skills. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with individuals and groups throughout the University Libraries. Ability to work independently and with others to meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree preferred, especially in statistics or information/library science. Experience working in an academic library. Expertise in assessment activities or social science research.
