About DLI

Digital Library Initiatives (DLI) began in 2001 to foster the creation and use of digitized collections and provide open access to materials of interest to the academic community.

The UT Libraries, sponsored by the Digital Library Federation (DLF) and the Mellon Foundation, was one of two libraries in the country that participated in the original testing of the Open Archives Initiative Metadata Harvesting Protocol. As an active member of the Digital Library Federation, DLI is expanding upon that relationship, sharing its expertise, research and accomplishments with colleagues at forums and conferences.

The DLI is also affiliated with Tenn-Share in hosting Volunteer Voices, a statewide digital initiative that is gathering and digitizing materials of cultural and historical relevance to the state and its citizens.
